LP - Kurt Vile - B'lieve I'm Goin (Deep) Down - Deluxe 3xLP - $26.99
b’lieve i’m goin down... is Vile’s 6th album, and shows Kurt both deeply introspective and briskly self-assured. As longtime fan Kim Gordon wrote about the album: “Kurt does his own myth-making; a boy/man with an old soul voice in the age of digital everything becoming something else, which is why this focused, brilliantly clear and seemingly candid record is a breath of fresh air. Recorded and mixed in a number of locations, including Los Angeles and Joshua Tree, b'lieve i'm goin down... is a handshake across the country, east to west coast, thru the dustbowl history ("valley of ashes") of woody honest strait forward talk guthrie, and a cali canyon dead still nite floating in a nearly waterless landscape. The record is all air, weightless, bodyless, but grounded in convincing authenticity, in the best version of singer songwriter up cycling.” - Matador
LP - L.O.T.I.O.N. - Digital Control And Man's Obsolescence - $15.99
Started by local illustrator/designer and SURVIVAL member Alexander Heir, L.O.T.I.O.N. has evolved into a full industrial band, some cyborg of human angst and mechanical spasm melding punk guitar playing and blown-out e-drum into full tech-horror. It’s an aesthetic that could be construed as “futuristic” in a kitschy way, but it’s strangely, and rather scarily, relevant to our current era, one where we’re always being looked at and don’t really know what to look forward to. The post-9/11 dread of a budding police nation that Hank Wood espoused as street-level wisdom on their debut record, though serious and felt, almost felt like a game of cops and robbers by comparison. In L.O.T.I.O.N.’s world, the chances are slimmer and the stakes are more dire, as we’ve grown outnumbered and outmatched. One of the final lyrics of “Vid The Pigs,” a track from their debut full-length Digital Control And Man's Obsolescence lays it out most plainly: “Technology / is a weapon / use it / or be abused by it." - Ad Hoc
LP - Destruction Unit - Eclipse - $13.99
“In 2010 we released the DESTRUCTION UNIT LP Eclipse. This album was quite a departure from the synthpunk background that the band was known for. This record was sort of the start of a new era of the band. Diving deeper into a epic Psych rock sound. Granted this record is less heavy then their most current works ‘Deep Trip’ & one of my personal favorites ‘Void’ however this record set the groundwork for these titles. You can check out the first track from the album “Time Traveler” over in our player on the right hand side of the page to get a taste of this albums vibe. We now have 100 copies back in stock on mixed color vinyl. Grab one today as they are sure to go quick.”—FDH
LP - Destruction Unit - Negative Feedback Resistor $14.99
In the spirit of solidarity with the other revolutionary communities of our sisters and brothers, the psychedelic Unit urges you to use this album’s energy, energy your speakers can hardly contain, for its intended purpose: to break the chains which you, at the dawn of your understanding, have fastened around your hands and feet. And to see to it that the thrones of every despot erected within you are destroyed. This is crazed-psychedelic-freek-noise guerrilla warfare and these are our streets. The pigs of the law can use their system to manipulate and censor our messages. The control creeps can keep their airwaves safe and comfortable. But none of them have been able to make us turn our voices or our guitar amps down. Destruction Unit sacrificed their ears to make this album as loud of a statement as possible. Will you lend them yours?
LP - Thee Cormans - Halloween Record With Sound Effects - $13.99
"In the grand tradition of Frankie Stein and His Ghouls and The Deadly Ones, Thee Cormans present Halloween Record w/ Special Effects—a bona fide Halloween rock ’n’ roll album just in time for the only holiday that matters. The Southern Californian biker / surf instrumental combo has been bashing out their brand of Davie-Allan-and-the-Arrows-meets-The-Ventures-on-meth thrash for several years now. Theirs is a sound informed by scratched-up ’60s instrumental records, KBD punk singles and exploitation B-movies chock full of monsters, bikers and mayhem. What this group of weirdos does to the surf instrumental genre is the same as what The Mummies did to Pacific Northwest ’60s rock back in the ’90s—they speed it up, drag it through the mud, pour a can of politically incorrect attitude over the top and call it a pie. In this case, the pie is filled with rubber bats, plastic fangs and novelty shrunken heads."
Thee Cormans made just one mistake on this record, titling it "Halloween Record" when it's more of an everyday record. That's how often we've been spinning it. We recommend you do the same.
