LP - Andre Popp - Presenting Popp!
Frenchman Andre Popp wrote Love is Blue a huge hit in the 1960s and his biggest claim to fame. He also made Delirium in Hi-Fi (credited facetiously to Elsa Popping and her Pixieland Band) an early entry in the fantastic Columbia Adventures in Sound series. Presenting Popp! is also an Adventures in Sound record. Presenting Popp! seems to make up for the excesses of Delirium in Hi-Fi. The record is not tamer but without the emphasis on sound effects Popps unique way with music has a chance to thrive. Notably Popps second-greatest contribution to musical standards makes its debut here The Portuguese Washerwomen. - allmusic.com
